the button only turns blue if both parts are translated.

both OTHER parts, from which this translation is compiled... OK i get it.

just to be clear with both I meant the [1] part as singular string and the [other] part which is the plural string.

Hello, there are some inconsequent results:

allowed: Alles Opwaarderen (1%u)

NOT allowed: De volgende 1%u uitbreidingen opwaarderen:

YET its the same 1%u which MOSTLY is accepted but JUST sometime Not with the 'Fill in all plurals to continue ' remark so when is 1%u a plural and when not ???

It depends on the context. Whether a string is pluralized or not can be seen by whether the [1] / [other] buttons are there or not. If they're visible, it's a pluralized string which requires two forms; if they're not there, it's a "normal" string.

By the way, you can also use the filter LabelPluralized to show only pluralized or only non-pluralized strings.

1%u is just a placeholder for a variable that contains an unsigned integer.
Whether Pluralform is needed for the sentence is decided by the coder / scripter by using a function named ngettext instead of pgettext.
So for the translators the necessity for plural form is shown by the buttons discussed.
the placeholders are no indication of this.

OK when i checked "[1] / [other]" earlier i had the impression it was a variation on the translation rather then a part of a combined form

that sounds like it could be an eror in the source string.
can you provide the textdomain and string number?

Usually I just copy this from the source string
