I made a "carbon-free economy" (no coal mine sites) map for myself just for fun: A well-working land looks rather different when one needs to rely entirely on charcoal burners..

AI did not make burners at all. After a quick browse through the code it seems that the default AI does not even consider those. Should it?

A map without any coal resources sounds like a fun experiment. face-smile.png

Yes, the AI should consider building charcoal burners, at least I can't see any reason why it shouldn't. If the coal mines run out, or as in your example are not available it should use them to produce enough coal to get by. It could even take into consideration how much coal it needs, which would produce the most and to which degree it needs the wood for building materials/other purposes.

If the AI doesn't consider a building type at all, that is a bug and should be reported as such. There is plenty of room for AI improvements, and patches/suggestions are welcome. face-smile.png

I put the test map of mine online.
