Hi, I'm pretty new to Widelands (although I remember it from build 12 or so) and I'm missing some features which original game (I mean Settlers 2 now) had. It would be really good for beginners to see how much each building costs and what type of goods and in how much it produces. The same with needs of that building. Ie (not sure with numbers, just example): Wood hardener needs 3 trunks and 2 stones to build it and then it produces two hardened wood for each trunk (1 trunk -> 2 hardened wood). I'm sure you understand what I mean. All information should be visible in the "select what to build" menu, not in the completed building only. Some kind of floating window (moving with cursor when hovering over the building) or absolutely positioned window (left-top corner in the center of building's image?). Is this possible to do in some future build? Ii can be very useful for beginners. Thanks for replies ![]() ![]() |

Hi Pavouk106. Welcome to the forums (and Widelands) A preview of the build costs when selecting buildings is planned. For more details or if you simply want to follow the progress, please see this bug report. Ships! ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for fast reply. Yeah, that covers it. Some kind of tooltip would be nice What about the other thing? What kind of goods building needs to produce something other? Ie: Tavern - I would like to know what other building I need to build (hunter, fisher, bakery, farmfor bakery, well for bakery, ...) to supply my tavern to make food. I could build my buildings on better places if I know what I need to build in advance. Now I have to look online or into PDF, but I think this could/should be avaiable ingame.

Well, there is an ingame-help planned to provide such information, but in the way it is now (apart from the missing progress of the feature), the information wont be available till you built the building in question. On the other hand can you gather these infos with the already implemented ware help. There is written, which ware is produced in which building and what is needed to make the product. Its not that one-glance-overview you request but it is available and shows all the information you want Two is the oddest prime. ![]() ![]() |

Ok, I will stick to this type of ingame help. Good to know people think about these features. Thanks for fast replies, my questions seem to be answered. ![]() ![]() |

SirVer: I know about those, but I really think this kind of informatin should be included in the game itself, not only online. Back to Venatrix: "one-glance-overview" - I meant only one layer deep. It means when you hover above Tavern, some tooltip shows you "Supplied by goods from: Fisherman's hut, Hunter's hut, ...". It is shown at wares help, that is correct, but it is not totally practical I would like to have these features, because I could plan where to build more precisely and think forward. I guess that many beginners have this problem. You build Hunter next to HQ, then you go for some conquering and after it you build tavern on the other side of map. Or you build in the row "Bakery - Farm - Well" instead of "Farm - Well - Bakery". You know what I mean ![]() ![]() |
