I have made this new wareicons for the fish, coal, iron ore and gold ore wares. If you like it let me know. They are used by the babarians, empire and atlanteans.

Yes, I think they are an improvement, especially the ores are nicer.

They definitely look more authentic then the old ones. But the fish is partially a bit hard to see on the background. The iron ore could be more reddish and it could be a good idea to change the shape of the ores, so that every ore has a different shape. Just my opinion.

Any ideas on how to make the fish better visible?

The shape of the ore is a sphere with displacement mapping on it. So it should be no real problem to alter the shape.

Perhaps you could try to take a different fish as model. Instead of a fluke (Flunder) try a carp (Karpfen)or something else. Also you might tweak the colour to look more silver/greyish. Thats just how I would like the fish to look like face-smile.png

To make the fish more silver is not a good idea, because the background is grey. That would not help with the visibility. So how about a gold fish? They’re reddish/white and should be seen very well. And when they’re big enough you could eat them, too.;-)

I can't really see what's wrong with a silver fish, as long as it's a bright silver, not a dark one.
And yes, I think a more slender fish (trout?, Forelle?) could be better.

I think the shape and color of the fish are fine, but it does need a bit more contrast. a bit more shine and luminosity.

Another try on the fish icons for the resource and ware:

Icon resource fish http://picfront.de/d/8he0 Icon ware fish http://picfront.de/d/8he1

I don't like a longer fish the brighter color but let me know what you think. face-tongue.png

EDIT: Are the lumps ok?

@fraang - The graphics are no longer available on your server. Could you re-post them so I might be able to see your proposals?

Thanks.
