While I was playing Widelands in full screen mode, a pop-up announcement from the Mandriva operating system showed briefly, then left a black rectangle on the screen. The gloved Widelands cursor was then locked in position, while the normal desktop cursor could be moved around the screen. Clicking the mouse had no effect. To try to get out of the game and back to the desktop, I tried every key combination I could think of, but very reluctantly I had to power down the computer. I now run Widelands in windowed mode. It wasn't until later that I found that CTRL+F10 should have done the trick, but even that might not have worked- one of the keys I pressed was F11, but there is no screenshot in my Widelands directory. Any comments?

You might want to try enable/disable grab mouse under options. Otherwise, I suggest you sent some rage to mandriva for disturbing you with unwanted and unasked for pop ups.
