why are there two versions of blackroot (black and brown)? Should we pick one of them?

yes. The brown one is the old one. I think the new one has a better shape but is too black - it will be hard to distinguish if this ware in available in a building or delivered.

I think that the brown root looks better.

Also, keep in mind that, despite its name, the blackroot doesn't have to be completely black; a dark color is fine. A black rhino, for example, is not black, but gray-brown: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Diceros_bicornis_(Etosha).jpg. And let's not even get started on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/peacock_mantis_shrimp, which is neither peacock nor mantis nor shrimp. XD

Nice work, fraang! Aside from removing the "picture=" clause from a couple of the conf files, I'm submitting your new graphics unchanged for merge to trunk. face-smile.png

As for the blackroot ware, I find fraang's proposed image (on the carrier on the right in his screen shot above) difficult to see. Perhaps we could use a compromise of a darker brown (vs. black) object that would contrast well on the playing board and still be distinguishable in any wares menu. Remember, we want an image that is easily recognized but great detail will be lost at the scale in the game. The current black image is certainly easily recognizable on the playing board we just need to improve its contrast in the menus.

Thoughts anyone?

The new blackroot field graphics are in as of release 7348. Great job, fraang!

My intent was to have similar pics for the idle and menu ones which is not the case with the old ones. And the pic for the playing board is very pixelated and looks a bit flat.

I will make the root dark brown. Lets see how this looks. face-smile.png

Nice work on the graphics face-smile.png

The color for the menu graphic is better now. I'm not fond of the black outline though, since the other wares don't have it. Maybe making it a bit lighter would suffice?

I have made the outline much thinner now. What do you think?
