A new development version is available on flathub-beta

The previous one was too close and I was too busy for this year's Nikolausausgabe, so here's the fully international Winter Solstice Related Holidays Edition instead! face-smile.png

I have prepared the flatpak packaging for the 25.08beta runtime, which is available from flathub-beta. The test build can be installed as

flatpak install --user https://dl.flathub.org/build-repo/207213/org.widelands.Widelands.flatpakref

Unfortunately these test builds need 200+MB download even if the current beta is installed (while beta updates only need <10MB), at least in my Debian bookworm testing environment, and they can't be updated afterwards.

I'm still reluctant to push it to beta, because in my testing environment the graphics framerate is horrible on X11, it only runs smoothly on wayland. (game logic speed is OK in both cases)

A new development version is available on flathub-beta. It now uses the 25.08 runtime, as we'll have to use it for the release. If that's a problem for you, you should consider switching to the development snapshot appimages. All in all, the appimage may be a better option in most cases, unless your distro is flatpak based... its biggest problem is that you have to download the full set of the game media files with every new version. OTOH you end up with the same download size externally whenever the flatpak has to download a runtime update...
