Hello!

When playing on a map consisting of multiple islands [one like Astoria 2.R], occupying the entire coast of your island seems like a good way of making sure you won't get attacked by enemies on your main island, which contains your most vital structures.

But unless you simultaneously work on multiple ports on other islands, you could get stuck as other players can similarly cover all their shores, making it impossible to attack them.

What should I do in such a case?

if attacking ports was a thing, I suppose this would be solved. I have only tried the experimental naval warfare feature once and it didn't seem to allow attacking ports with ships, or at least I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Thank you for your time face-smile.png

  1. enable the naval warfare feature (must be done before the match starts)
  2. turn ships into warships
  3. sink all enemy warships which guard the enemy port
  4. man some of your warships with soldiers
  5. maneuver those warships to the enemy port
  6. click then on this port where an attack window opens, attack with many soldiers
  7. the soldiers go on land and attack the port
  8. once all enemy soldiers in the enemy port are dead, the port will be destroyed and your soldiers make it your territory which they will defend
  9. turn a civil ship into a expedition ship
  10. maneuver the expedition ship to the port space
  11. let it build your own port there

Any more questions?

Is the point 3 necessary? I usually play against AI and I destroyed an enemy ship maybe just twice so far, though I was able to attack even guarded ports without problems. So maybe this point applies just for multiplayer, when the opposite player actively protects his port? I am a little bit confused now.

And the point 9 should be part of point 4 based on my experience. The expedition ship should be ready as soon as the port space is available.

And point 3 comes after the point 4 and should involve the second option of attacking too: "... or find any still unoccupied port space within enemy's territory." In the same way other points should be reformulated. I would rather speak about attacking port space than port.

Sorry for being too perfectionistic. I just feel that the described way is a little bit confusing and doesn't describe the naval warfare completely.
