I have windows 10, and widelands work perfectly on it.

Under a definition of "perfect" meaning "with no more bugs than in other operating systems", of course.

From my point of view: Windows 8 & Windows 10 are not better than Windows 7. That is for standard PC & Laptop. For devices with touch screen- can be different. I was working on Windows 8 and it was horrible. On my PC I upgraded win 7 to win 10 and some things were broken (It took 2 days to fix the system). Now I went back to Windows 7 and I am happy for that face-smile.png . Of course you can have different fellings face-wink.png

In my experience, if you have windows 7, keep it. if you accidentally "upgraded" it to 8 (downgraded would be a better term, really) then go to 10. windows 10 is slower and less stable than windows 7, but it's much better than 8.

As an user (18h per day) of some Windows OS, and as an ex-computer-repairman, i confirm Win7(6.1) is way far better than Win8(6.2) and Win10(6.3).

The general consensus is that if you have any level of computer skill, 7 is better than 8 and 10; I agree with that consensus.

I agree that Win 10 is absolutely rubbish, and I have never tried Win 7. However, with trunks on 64 bit build only I invested in a Win 8.1 64 bit machine to play. Windows "upgraded" to 10, I tried it for no more than 30 minutes, and went back to 8.1. In fairness 8.1 isn't that bad ... it can be a little slow sometimes, but with tweaks (to make it look and work like XP) I don't have much to complain about. Whilst I was dragged screaming from XP nothing short of death will convince me to move to 10 again.

Please don't spam. This is a widelands forum and your personal preferences of any OS flavor doesn't matter at all and no OS is rubbish.

Widelands supports MacOS X, Windows >= 7and (nearly all) Linux flavors. If you have trouble running widelands on any of these ask here in the forums or open a bug report.

The inital question was answered.
