## History of the Tribe ¶

The Frisians
are an ancient and independent people living on the rough shores of the sea. Proud, patient and haughty, they bend a harsh, primeval landscape to their will and yet live in harmony with it. Just as they will not yield to their severe environment, they are fiercely defensive of their home and their traditions. The Frisians desire peace but no friendship with their neighbours, preferring to be left alone and ready to leave others alone in turn – but woe betide those who offend this mighty people by word or by deed, for they are powerful warriors who will tolerate no offence. They look down on those who live in comfort as being inferior and weak, and they look down too on those who enjoy fighting and combat as being senseless barbarians, and they look down most of all on those who do not stand by their own values; yet they always remain courteous and honest in their dealings with each other and even with foreigners, except when malfeasance and war is brought against them. The Frisians cling with determination to their culture and tradition and do not readily embrace change of any kind or form, but they are also pragmatic when change becomes inevitable and will never hesitate to do whatever is needful to ensure their continuance. ¶

## Frisi
an Economy ¶

The Frisian economy is sophisticated and filled with complexities that are the consequence of the Frisians’ love of traditions and disdain of chan
ge for it own sake. Wares are refined in multiple steps, and the production of advanced goods is a high form of craft that only experienced workers can accomplish. The economic chain takes a long time to set up and offers many possibilities of deadlocks; but those wisest of chieftains who can keep it running smoothly are eventually rewarded with an exceptionally efficient system. Frisian inventors have refined the skill of charcoal burning to an art, and their smelters can even extract metals from old weapons and armour discarded during training. ¶
