A lush temperate island with a long mountain range and volcanoes emerging from the sea just off the coastal headlands.
Hint:
Because of steep, rocky terrain, the North-facing slopes near your headquarters will be difficult to mine. Expand your empire North to the headlands, build ports and make your way across the sea to reach the desert mountains, where minerals are abundant, but the land is nearly barren. You can also access the sea with ports on one of the meandering rivers.
