Description:
Two large continents with a smallish island between then. All the gold is located on islands located off the north-east or south-west ''corners'' of the main continents - you can 'see' the island from your start position! 
Hint:
Cut down those trees! 
Head north or south to find the islands with the gold. Head south-east or north-west to find the 'link' island that separates the continents.
