Map: Clear Lake - California
Description:
A beautiful clear lake surrounded by mountains, farmland and chapparal in Northern California. I went to a wedding here once. Similar in style to the Lake Tahoe map, but scaled down 50% for computers that struggle with 512x512 maps.

Probably my favorite map so far. Nice mix of flat/rough, green/dry/seafaring, plenty of room to grow, but doesn't take forever to reach enemies, and overall just pretty to look at.

Leave your geologists behind when you visit the Clear Lake, as even rookies can see what's under that mountain! Plenty of space to grow and build out your tribe with nice clean roads but with the variety and spice that makes for an interesting playthrough. Choose to take to the water or build out on the land, although who can resist building a port on those pretty headlands? A beautiful map made with care which my playmate and I will return to again, I'm sure. |

This is a very nice map for 8 players. I added by myself these new positions: 4 green 55/276 Empire, 5 grey 332/248 Empire, 6 orange 150/230 Frisians, 7 purple 2/14 Barbarians, 8 white 366/112 Barbarians. Who wants to play the map with only 3 players can leave the rest unoccupied. I tested it with AI, all players have a reasonable access to resources (maybe it would be nice to change the distribution a little bit to make it more equal but it is not necessary) and the fighting usually starts around 3rd hour of game and that is a lot of time. You usually have multiple training sites, fully established economy and many heroes after 3 hours of playing. The suggested teams may look like this: 1x2x3, 3x6x7, 4+7x6+8, 5+7x3+8, 3+8x4+5x6+7, 3+6+8x4+5+7. You can modified the map and post it, if you like. If not, everyone can change it according to their preferences by themself.
