For those who are interested, I've added information about the graphics requirements to the SeafaringImplementation Wiki page.

Thanks for your ideas, Peter.

Do any others of you have some suggestions/ideas? Anyone? Anyone? face-smile.png

I've been quietly working on refining the barbarian ship and have totally rebuilt the model, plank by plank in preparation for the ship construction sequence.

Here is the current model in approximate game size and the atlantean ship for comparison:
lapstrake atlant

The pattern of the sail will be alternating vertical stripes of player color and white, about 7 in all.

With MUCH more to be done for seafaring graphics and not wanting to delay the release of Build 17, I plan to provide an un-animated ship for now. I'll follow up with full animation after Build 17 is put to bed.

So, what do you think of our longboat? I'll render up some directional frames and push this model to the trunk so you can see her in the game. Then I am going to tackle a Roman galley for the empire.

Once the ships are in place, I'll make the shipwrights and static versions of the shipyards and port buildings. They will also be animated after Build 17 is in.

Stay tuned!

WOOOOOW!!!! Chuck... as always VERY nice and beautiful work! I can't wait to see the ship in game :).

However, now that I see the barbarian ship in it's full pride, one new problem occurs: The atlantean ship looks a bit abandoned - would be cool to have a sailor or navigator on the atlantean ship in future, don't you think? face-smile.png If yes I would open a bug report (of course not targetted to Build17) for that.

Cheers

I was thinking the same thing about the atlantean ship, Peter. face-smile.png A bug report for a helmsman (at least) is in order I think and DEFINITELY FOR AFTER Build17. face-wink.png

Love it, Chuck!

Being no programmer, I apologize for all my suggestions that imply undue workload and for other misjudgements due to lack of expertise or relevant skills.
I am on Win32, have no means to compile, and rely on prefabricated distributions (Thanks to Tino).

For those of you who do not have access to Launchpad and/or can't wait for Tino's next build ;) Here is the build sequence for the new barbarian ship: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6

I would have liked to add some building materials to the scenes, but I just can't take the time right now.
On to the Empire ship!
Stay tuned for shipwrights when that is done.
