Yes, the fist times it bothers me too So thanks for reminding and hinting to the notification settings. I will take look at this issue

Also notification to maps (discussion about specific map) would be useful, I would like the same "subscribe" button as here in forum...

there is an option to not get the notification. i don't remember exactly where ii found it, but i don't get notifications anymore

Yes, there is a bugreport about notifications on maps. Time, give me time
Notifications should only be send once for a new post on a topic. Currently under some circumstances there are send two identical mails to a subscriber. This is a failure and has to be examined and prevented
