I suggest modifying the "New World" starting condition according to values which I am posting in this attached add-on. The new values are more balanced and are not so close to the "Discovery " sc as the current "NW" version is. The distribution of ware between ships is also better. The biggest change is that every tribe has 8 soldiers instead of 3, which sometimes makes even AI not to get stuck (Barbarians perform best).

I also tried to optimise the Discovery sc, but I didn't test the balance properly. Still the distribution of ware should be better too.

I tested the "Discovery" sc too. I played just few games. Amazons were too strong so I removed 2 iron woods and 1 woodcutter. Empire could get into trouble, if there would not be enough rocks so I replaced baker with vine farmer. The new version is in attachments. This change would make sense for the "New World" too. As for human, it doesn't make much difference but for AI it's much better. So I would recommend to do this one replacement in "New World" too. Otherwise I am happy with that. As for discovery, I tested first heroes winning condition on "Srawerb Ait" map, which is part of "Maps for 1.2" add-on. And I was able to train 4 heroes in more less 3 hours with every tribe. I played in 1.5 pace, so one game took approximately 2 hours. As for new world, I used my modified tropical add-on on "Tropical Sumatra" map and I was able to train 30 heroes in approximately 3,5 hours (again it took me 2:15 as I played in 1.5 pace). I usually started to train soldiers around 2 hours of game. I should probably rather test time for 4 heroes but still I believe that the balance is fine. The player skills and chosen port space should always play the main role.
