Hello! Widelands has been a huge part of my late childhood and I recently rediscovered it and relived my fond memories. It's nice to see how far this game has come since then and I wanted to give something back. That's why I've decided to put my orchestra VST to good use and make a song for possible inclusion into the soundtrack. I used the EastWest Hollywood Orchestra for almost all of the instruments and used Reason 11 as the DAW. Here's a Soundclound like for listening: https://soundcloud.com/robinhintzen/a-journeys-beginning/s-r1FENzP8W8I?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing And also a google drive link to an ogg file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LveCg6Qu0JkoL-qhJzSRhSEqMInfGJ_s/view?usp=sharing Having a composition of mine included in a game I'm so nostalgic for would be wonderful, so please tell me what you think of it. Hi Melonenstrauch,
welcome to the forum. I listened to the track in vlc and in the game. I like the theme and the middle part might fir into the game imho nearly out of the box. However the whole track and especially the background of the intro and the endpart sound too much "synthesized", which doesn't fit well tom the game imho. Overall the begining and end part sound a bit sad as well, as if the beginning journey would not be fun but really scary. If this could be made to sound more optimistic it would fir better to the exploration fun that the game is about. Top Quote |

I like it too. It's far better than all tracks which have been added after build18 Wanted to save the world, then I got widetracked Top Quote |

Evaluating music depends always on personal taste. From my point of view i partly agree to what hessenfarmer said: The first and last part sounds a bit sad. But i don't like music which is too much carrying, grandios, so my opinion about your track is related to my taste. A nice track nevertheless! Fight simulator for Widelands: |
