Is there an easy way to restart a game? I.e. start a game with the same map, goal, starting positions, teams, AI players as an existing savegame?

You can create a template file and start it from the commandline. An example template file is in data/templates/new_game_template. Just copy it to somewhere in your Widelands home directory, adjust it to your needs, and use ./widelands --new_game_from_template=FILENAME
