Hm… perhaps you cloned the repo with the --depth parameter? Then you could try to use git fetch --unshallow upstream to fix this. Otherwise, I don't really have an idea except the universal solution of deleting everything and getting a fresh copy face-sad.png

i hate it... but maybe i am too stupid for git.

Will start from scratch again. If that works i will adjust the wikipage and add warning about the --depth option.
