I've done some tinkering.

2D: 2d 3D: 3d

The 3D still needs some work, but it's coming along.

A little more refinement with the L right of the W's center and a different camera angle:

001

The first 3D model was based on the icon png file SirVer mentioned. 2d

I've now created a 3D model based on the vector graphic referred to by Nasenbaer which has a less broken profile. vector

I refer to them as "rugged" and "smooth" owing to the structure of each mesh.

Note: When I modeled the first "W", I made the center peak without a serif. In the smooth model the center serif of the "W" matches the top serif of the "L".

rugged: 001

smooth smooth

The textures/materials used can, of course, be changed, edges can be sharpened, rounded, beveled and the letters given more depth.

What do you think?

Edited for format

I think I like the layout of the first one better, but the graphics is too fuzzy.

I agree that the "rugged" model has more character and visual interest. The the front face of each letter has been "painted" with the original 2D graphic and loses resolution quickly when scaled up.

I'll try sculpting the mesh faces physically in an attempt to get the same effect.

With a little sculpting and different materials:

Haven't done much to the L other than give it the old wood texture. Distressing or other tooling could be applied to it, as well.

Comments?

If you give the L grooves like the W has, I think we have a winner face-smile.png

I like that one too - but it is a bit dark. Can we get that with slightly more light?

Certainly! Lighting options and poses are infinite. I'll make some modifications to the L and lighting.
