It's been a few days since the insane rush to finish all the graphics before the June 7th/8th freeze. Obviously I won't be creating graphics at such a frantic rate again, but nothing prevents me from working on graphics at a more leisurely rate. So give me suggestions on what low-frame buildings needs to be made or improved (remember, each frame is either eight or twelve renders, depending on whether we have player colors).

On a side note, since I have a bark texture from a pre-existing building, it might look better than single-color logs (and can always be tinted if needed).



What do you think? Yes, I realize the lighter wood hasn't been textured yet.

EDIT: I should add that ideally I'll be making lots of graphics. I don't need to flood the board with threads, so we can keep them all here. ;)

No comments? That's okay, I did some work while waiting for them.



While the guardhouse doesn't show that the trident rack is 3d, rest assured, it is (and matches the blend's dimensions very well).

EDIT: The tridents need a lighter color and the rack needs be a bit shorter left-to-right, but I'll take care of those by the time I respond to comments.

The barracks looks very nice but a bit too dark, IMHO. Could you make the texture brighter?

I'm not sure about the guardhouse. The idea is good, but at the low scale it looks more like a fence rather than a trident rack. Perhaps make them 30-50% larger and rotate them to be orthogonal to the road?
And there's one trident too many as only 2 soldiers can be garrisoned there face-smile.png

I can absolutely lighten the bark if needed.

As for the guardhouse, I tried to match the old version as best I could; I can certainly rotate the rack and remove a trident (both of which I considered), but I went with what the previous person went with.

And now, the big question that affects this and all future image upgrades: How faithful should I remain to the original images?

No more than you want to. If you want to redesign some models, go ahead, so long as they fit to the tribe's general style and appearance face-smile.png

Maybe leave the tridents out for unmanned guardhouses?

I'll work on the construction phases tomorrow. Also, an alternate, trident-free guardhouse for kaputtnik:


Assuming there are no complaints, I'll work on both versions tomorrow as well.

Bad news (for me): the ends of the logs too obviously need work in the construction images..... which means I'll need to redo the finished version. It's the equivalent of putting your quarry one intersection short of covering the entire rock patch!
