Thanks for your comments everyone. As I mentioned in post 12064 above, I've been working on an alternate model that I present here for your consideration. I patterned Sample #4 after a couple real stabburs and built it piece by piece. To add a sense of mass I added a couple more support blocks underneath the building and scaled things down a little. (I told my wife that after making these models, I wouldn't mind building a real one.) Sample #3: What do you think? Have a favorite? Comments please. Edited: 2015-01-19, 03:12

Note: The buildings appear smaller in this screenshot than they will appear in the game. The individual samples in the previous post are the dimensions of what will be seen in the game. Edited: 2015-01-19, 04:30

Never being satisfied with my results, I offer up another sample. Essentially, Sample #3 models a building made with boards for walls. While Samples #4 & 5 have logs. Personally, I prefer #5. It is more consistent with the architecture of most of the buildings. In fact, I'm beginning to question the use of the grayer material I used on some of my earlier buildings like the helmsmithy and axe factory. Comments? Edited: 2015-01-19, 17:21

Number 5 looks very good! In my oppinion, it is the best one out of all the samples and by far better than the old one. ![]() ![]() |

As #5 draws interest, here are the build sequence images that I've created for it: - Shall #5 be implemented? I see little people. ![]() ![]() |

I slightly prefer #3, but #5 is also very nice and loads better to what we have right now. I'd say go for it!
I do not think that is wise. The differences that we have in the buildings in the barbarians make them stand out better which makes it better to pick out the building you are interested in on the map and in menus. Trying to make all buildings look similar is not good from a game play point of view. ![]() ![]() |

In my opinion #5 is better than #4. I thought that #4 is too dark before I saw the image of #5. Even if the wood #3 and #4 is the same color, but #4 has more of the black vertical lines (windows?) which make it look darker. Anyway, I find it difficult to chose between #3 and #5. My first impression of #5 was that the upper floor is too low (is that correct?). I'm pretty sure that's because you increased the roof overhang. While that's a good idea from an architectural point of view one can see only a small part of the SW side of the wall. That makes it look compact. If the upper floor was a little bit higher I'd vote for #5. What I really like with #5 are the round posts at the corners of the upper floor. ![]() ![]() |
