New suggestion:

Let the user mark a tree for cutting down next. It is usefull if you want to build a building in the place of the tree. If there is a wood it maybe needs to long until this tree is cut down.

Same smaller suggestion for geologists. Maybe let the user mark the next point to check for water or minerals.

I agree that this is tempting, but our goal is not to make the game as easy to play as possible. There are specific challenges in the game, one of which is that you have to plan for such things sufficiently in advance, precisely because your tribespeople have their own "mind" and work at their own pace. Part of what makes you a good player is to be able to predict such issues ahead of time and act accordingly. Yes, this means that you are sometimes exposed to random chance.

At least those are my €0.02.

... And we are supposed to be rulers at the end, marking trees for cutting down is significantly below our lordlyness (and besides that, its the work of the lumberjack).
