Hi folks, Just a quick query, when you set the maximum number of transport
ships ( say to 40) and start converting some to warships,
does the warships still count to the original total?
I ask because my observations seem to indicate this but I am
still learning naval warfare. Would it be possible at a later date
to add a maximum warship feature similar to the current max ships
feature, or could this be added via lua? ( I don't know the scripting well enough
yet to try )

No. AFAIK the shipyard starts building a new transport ship if you make a warship from a transport ship. If you turn a warship into a transport ship back the shipyard stops building a new transport ship if the maximum number of transport ships has been reached.

Since warships can only be made from transport ships, i see no reason for a possibility to set a maximum for warships. Moreover i can't imagine how this should work: Disabling the corresponding butten in each transport ship?

My observation is that the shipyard starts building new transport ships as long as your count is below your set maximum. When you convert a transport to warship or to expedition the shipyard starts to build a new one and will finish it no matter how many you convert back to transport. To stop building a ship in production you have to click the stop button within the shipyard.

Thanks for the info. I already know about disabling ship building ( by stopping the worker )
As I have used that several times. I hadn't noticed that the shipyard replaces converted ships
until I observed that last night , even so I thank you both for your response, I have learned something
new. As for setting a limit to warships, I agree that hard coding such a thing would be impractical
and add something that may be rarely used. Sometimes players must track things for themselves
and decide when they have enough.
