Is the lack of one intentional, or mostly just a "nobody has the time to make and maintain one" issue? Feels like it would be an easier and more organic way of organizing games / competitions and whatnot.

Beside the lack of a maintainer it's more or less a privacy issue. See also: Widelands discord
