Does the type of terrain that a farm (wheat) is built on affect the efficiency of the farm? Does it make a difference if it is on nice green terrain or pebbly tan terrain?

No. Farms can grow their crop anywhere, as long as the terrain is arable. On snow, in the desert or on arable mountain, it doesn't matter as wheat or barley or cassava have no terrain affinity.
