Just got the game a few days ago.

I played a map for like 4 hours and another one for 10 or so..and not one crash..so I started on a new map, the Elven Forest one, and it crashed as my soldiers entered a sentry hut...then it kept crashing seemingly randomly. Crash to desktop with no errors. I tried a dif map and crash again cept screen froze a whitish color and I got a 'has stopped responding." error message. I'm on a XPS M1530 laptop with Vista on it...someone help plz cuz the game is awesome but unplayable due to lost progress from random crashes...not just irritating but actually impossible to play the game now and I was just starting to really enjoy the game when this started.

CTD's can be from overheat but then why does Left 4 Dead 2 not overheat on this laptop? New motherboard only a week old.. I just don't get it..plz help!

meastro as a quick redeem: you can set a autosave option in the options dialog. If you set it to a low value, like 5 mins you will not loose this much with each crash.

SilVer: Yeah, I realized I can just keep restarting the game as if I have 1 min autosaves. And it's the latest version as I just D/L'd it several days ago..how recent is the latest version?

So I just got a crash with this error: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Maestro4202: Do you mean build 15 by "latest version"? That is the latest binary version. You could however try to get your hands on a more recent development version and see if the problem persists. If yes, you can probably find out more by reading the log files and file a bug report at launchpad. If the problem is gone, then it'll likely be fixed on the next official build as well.

Yep it's build 15. It's VERY odd. Typical game session is like this: First crash after 30 min..then 1-5 more in next 10 min. Then 1-5 hours go by with no crash. Then a crash at hour 6 followed by 4 more crash free hours and finally a crash before I myself crash for the night. I've considered everything from corrupted prospector files to not having the .net framework or something...no real idea so far.
