Hello, I reinstalled my PC (Opensuse 42.3). The link of

https://launchpad.net/widelands/build19/build19

shows me e.g. 3 different source packages:

  1. widelands-build19-src.tar.bz2

  2. widelands-build19-src-gcc7.tar.bz2

  3. widelands-build19-repack-src.tar.bz2

Last time I had (probably) the first one. But it may be outdated because gcc is now in version 7?

I only want to play with a stable version. Which source package may be the best for me?

I believe the source code of build19 should be the same in every package, at least in regard to game features... If your distribution provides gcc7+ as default, go for item 2.

But if you are going to compile anyway, you might try the current trunk, it should be pretty stable IMHO.

The repack was mostly to fix the British english translation, and then we followed up with a fix to it would compile under GCC version 7.

Gameplay-wise, all of them are identical.

Thanks for your info. Since I had problems with bazaar and received your information that there is no relevant difference I installed the Wideland version from an OpenSuse package and it is now running fine.

Off topic: it does not run correctly after installation which is usually the case in OpenSuse. I saw a Widelands screen for half a second and it disappeared. After starting Widelands from an xterm I found that a library was missing. But I understand that this problem is not caused by Widelands itself.
