Hi, I've noticed that about half of my saved games (in particular, games saved while I'm expanding into enemy territory) can't be loaded. Most often there's some error message about inconsistent flag ownership, which I vaguely recall someone else mentioning. And just now I got an error message saying that it couldn't load my game because there was an unexpired "out of stone" message that should have been expired. Why would a little thing like that prevent it from opening my savegame?

The flag ownership error while conquering a militarysite within the military influence area of a headquarters is known, including the cause. The message expiration bug has been reported but the cause is unknown.

Hiya,

Only this morning I also got the "out of stone" error message. Here is the full message:

"messages for player 1: "Out of stone": message should have expired at 15439526; sent at 11839526 with duration 3600000 but gametime is already 18448371"

Hope that helps with a debug.

Could it be a problem with archiving unread messages? (I often just 'invert' to select all and archive, if I find myself with a long list of notifications.) Maybe this process causes the unread message to just stick around in the archive rather than expiring?

Is that when loading a broken savegame? It seems like release builds can create such broken savegames. A debug build should fail an assertion when trying to create a savegame that will be broken in that way. What would help is if someone finds a way to reproduce such a failed assertion.

(Using a release build that silently generates a broken savegame and then showing the error message that is given when trying to load the game does not help.)

Yes - it was a release build (5018) - the game was saved (and was working fine) but opening the saved game caused that error message.

I'll have a go at reproducing the message, and posting the output file, but I'm not really sure what to do. Reproducing the game/save/error should be a piece of cake ... what output files am I looking for, and do I need to do something else to generate them?

I have also had this message with "Headquarters" now.

A simple way to fix this is to make sure all messages are archived before saving the game (no message queue to break the savegame)

I was sure there was a way to edit the frequency of messages ... but I can't find it. Has this feature been removed?

It seems that making sure that ALL messages are archived before saving and exiting the game is the best way to solve this problem at the moment - no more problems for me.
