Is it possible to import/convert an old game/campaign into current Build-14 (stable)?

System is Ubuntu-Hardy-amd64

Best regards, Ingo

It might work. But maybe the ware types can be mixed up. If so, it should be possible to load the game with a modified build14, where the legacy ware type lists [http://widelands.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/widelands/trunk/src/legacy.cc?view=markup] are ordered like they were when the game was saved. The lists are ordered like in build13, so that savegames from that can be loaded in build14.

(Since svn:r4343, the ware types are saved by their name, so it does not matter if they are reordered in the tribes in the future.)

Thanks for the information sigra,

if I understand well I just can continue old games with the modified build - not convert to the new format.

In that case it is probably not worth to use old versions, but rather start a new game with build14 face-smile.png

Best regards, Ingo

If you would be able to load the old game with the modified build14 and then save it, it will be in the new format. Then it could be loaded with unmodified build14.

Thanks a lot,

I'll giv it a try. I'm just checking out from svn - takes quite a while. Will report result/success here when done.

Ingo

Build succeeded under Lenny-amd68 after updating 2 packets from Squeeze:

python-support scons

Test with saved game from build13: it starts loading, but finally I get this error message:

Seems it will not be possible. Maybe it is because the game was created under svn3176 build, which had already one more ware added? Nevertheless many thanks - it was worth a try, Ingo
