Topic: I can´t play online

I´m playing at the win10 64 bit version and Widelands build18. I have problems with internet connection. Ican´t join a game. What can I do?

it is possible that the games you were trying to join were hosted with a development build. If so, there is no bug. Otherwise, it is possible that it is caused by some problem of build 18 - I'm told it used an outdated internet protocol - but that's more specialistic than my knowledge.

I do not think that is accurate. The internet protocol of b18 is the same as dev versions, i.e. it is possible to join a game and chat with the players in the lobby. As soon as a game starts, all players and observers need to have the exact same version of the game, or it will immediately desync.

Could it be that the hosting player has not configured her router to forward the ports widelands uses? Have you checked https://wl.widelands.org/wiki/InternetGaming/? It describes the configuration that is required.
