Don't take this as a criticism or a suggestion, it's just a curiosity: why build 18 has music but all the subsequent trunks rreleased (at least those for windows) don't?

I guess Tino left the music away because of the file size. If you copy the folder "music" from build18 to the current trunk, it works fine.

wl-zocker guessed right - it's to keep the download size a bit smaller, because server bandwidth is expensive.

You could also add your own music:

  1. Create a folder "music" in the folder which contains also your map/replays/save/... directorys (on linux its "~/.widelands/")
  2. Copy music files to this new directory (i assume only ogg-encoded files are possible, no mp3)
  3. Rename the files to "ingame_##.ogg" where "##" is a number between 00 and 22.

Run the game and your own music will be played face-smile.png
