Playing the Spider map that has a lot of small rivers one of my expedition ships found a place to put a port. However, the port was placed at the wrong side of the river, where the enemy was and not at 'my' side of the river. Of course it was immediately destroyed. So could it be possible to highlight where the port is going to be placed? (I know, most of the time, when you are sending ships over a sea or big lake, this doesn't matter.)

I second this.

When I first played with seafaring and the ship stopped I did not understand that it just found a spot for port. So also for newcomers some placeholder would be fine.

I also think that would be useful, espiacally in the described case (when there are two riverbanks). As an icon, I could imagine the port build help icon (maybe slightly altered: What happens when the ship stops inside your territory where a port can also be built the normal way?). It should vanish once the ship moves on.

@Tibor: You should have gotten a message which tells you that. Nevertheless, I can imagine that you found this strange the first time.
