Also the offical playday is 2 weeks away and the process of hacking still going on, i have a question and also a suggestion:

Would it help to play the new release again (as i did sometime before) from an VM build under VirtualBox?

Which Windows OS would be suggested?

  • XP SP3

  • Vista SP2

  • 7 SP1 (also as an physical machine, i'll test the daily trunks from Tino :D)

  • Server OS? (2000/2003/2008/2008 R2)

Is there need for test with an Linux virtual machine? (also i have not much experience with it, i can try to build it) What i have already in VM is all Xubuntu versions from 10.04.4 upwards, so an actual ppa (Feature Freeze or younger) for this will be very helpful!

You can mail me or make contact here for some needed test - i'll try my best. face-wink.png

XP SP3

Vista SP2

7 SP1 (also as an physical machine, i'll test the daily trunks from Tino )

Server OS? (2000/2003/2008/2008 R2)

All of them? As many as possible? :p On a slightly more serious note, I think the main issue is that we are able to test across a wide array of different OSes and setups. Personally I would consider the server versions fairly low priority since I am not really sure many people play games on them. Additionally, I don't know if there is large enough differences between desktop and server to cause any problems (2008 and 2008 r2 is supposed to be fairly similar to vista and 7, respectively). On the other hand, you never know, and I don't know if we have any others checking this. There has been a couple of bugs affecting XP lately, so we should probably make sure that works properly now.

As for (X)ubuntu, you can use the official PPA with latest development version.

I find it a bit odd that the upcoming play day is two days prior to the release candidate. I would prefer to see that in the opposite order, but I am not sure how easy that is to change at this point. (Especially considering Easter, when people probably have other things to do.)

Could whoever controls the metaserver (Nasenbaer?) please add a note with when the next play day is scheduled to the greeting? Something like "If no one is around, please check back on the next play day (28th April) which usually gathers more people." This would obviously need to be updated monthly. The idea is that people looking for others to play with and aren't aware of the play days, shouldn't get disappointed when they don't find any other players and then never check back.

Sorry, this took some time.

However we've got a new play day date and I'll try to tell the metaserver that he should tell all clients that log in, that they should tell everybody about our next play day date :).

And our next official play day will be on the 26th of October - it's our 21st (or 42/2th face-wink.png ) official play day. Have fun playing and of course feel free to post here to find some people to play with.

I might be able to play then, Einstein. The best place to find a team-mate is on the chat room in the European evenings. At the moment you can also spectate a tournament game if you're lucky!

i have r18 and i run Linux mint 13 "Maya" id like to join the play day is there anything special that i should know about or just log into the multi-player Internet game and run with it? i know the basics but i haven't played against a person yet. i figure it would be a bit more challenging. if anyone has any info ..( like do i need a spec. release to play. or a windows o.s. =( ) i can run a vm but i don't much care for windows.
