Hi everyone,

I have tried to put more details into the icons. Added an icon for marine buildings and tried out an actual building icon for mines. The road flag is a bit rotated to get a better shading. How do you like them?

I like them very much! Perhaps the mine symbol could be a bit more orange?

I like them too. Just a note: The blue icon looks like the medium one, but (if it is used for port spaces) big buildings can be built there. This might confuse some players. Would it be possible to use the green building instead?

Ok I have made the mine icon more orange and tried to make the port building icon recognizable as a "large" building.

I am not really convinced that a tower made of stone based on a wooden construction would be a good idea. What do think of the new icon wl-zocker?

I also like them a lot! Could you post them as separate images, so we can drop them in the game and try them there?

I'm a bit worried they're a bit large (especially the port one), so they would clutter the map. But that could be solved by the proposal mentioned somewhere with which we could swich between the images and colored dots for the buildhelp.

That proposal exists, but I feel that adding more options is often used as a lame excuse for having great defaults. I agree that the larger icons tend to be a bit overwhelming. They should definitely be made smaller before inclusion in the game.

More comments:

  1. Aren't the current icons slightly transparent? It would be great if we could keep it like that.

  2. I actually prefer the somewhat smoother large symbols, because I feel that those symbols are supposed to be simple schematics.

I am no fan of the new big building's wrinkles - I prefer the smooth look of the other buildings. I like it on the mine though - it makes the mountain more understandable.

I also want to second ixprefect's opinion that we will most likely not get a second set of buildhelp icons that are only points - we should make the one we have all they can be and not bandaid out by providing two sets.

I am not worried about the size of the port: there are very few ports on the maps, so I do not really feel that a big icon will make much clutter. I suggest reducing the size of the others a bit though.

fraang, I, too, like the fresh look of this set of icons. However, I concur with SirVer's points.

  • smooth buildings, textured mine
  • one, not two sets of buildhelp icons
  • reduce the size of all but the port I suggest flag-28x29, small-25x29, medium-31x35, big-33x40, mine-40x38
