Will it be a 1 v 1 tournament? Or does this depend on the amount of people interested?

What maps will be played? What maps are FAIR for that matter?

It will be a 1v1 tournament, just like the last time. Win condition autocrat seems most logical.

For the maps I need some help, because I have not played enough to know which ones are fair or not.

I looked at all maps to evaluate if they are roughly fair (concerning starting position, ressources, place for buildings). The resulting categories are not yet in an official build, but in the developers version. A 'perfect fairness' is very difficult to evaluate and to achieve as they can be small assymetric things like height stucture of the ground or reachability of ressources. But the maps tagged as fair should be playable in a commonsense fair game. Of course, I can have made faults, so please report in the bug tracker, if you find errors in the tagging of the maps.

Due to the holidays I was not able to plan anything before today. I think to get a decent competition the register period should be extended.. I think a good day to start would be the Play Day on the 28th of January (if you can't make it the week afterwards is still an option). This means the deadline for registering is January 21.

More background information in the wiki (http://wl.widelands.org/wiki/WLTournamentTwentyTwelve/) (which no one had linked to so far?)

Could we get some more promotion of the tournament, please? Write a short news-item and add the sign-up deadline to important dates? Currently there is mostly this forum thread which people might not notice.

Ships!

Thanks for the promotion on the frontpage and on IRC! But please do register, because a tournament without players is no fun... OK, you have got two weeks still, but the earlier the better! So send me a pm!
