After the first Battle Royale event took place on November 19th, 2022 almost all players found this would make great fun to repeat on a regular basis.

This thread is to manage appointments and time schedules and to discuss games played and strategies.

Everyone interested to play such matches should maintain his playtime scheduler on the website and if there is a date with sufficient players everyone might announce an event in this thread, so additional particiapants can try to participate.

Noté. Est-ce que tu peux utiliser notre "playtime scheduler" (sur notre page a la haute-droite) pour organiser le exact temps pour la proxieme evennement.

Thank you, hessenfarmer! (I don't speak french, for a pity)

As we are nearing the coming weekend (when we maybe will play again), although not very much playtime schedulers have been filled yet, we have seen the last time how many participants were playing and that spontaneous participations of new players can happen :-) So, theoretically, if all players from last weekend would play again and if Koddo will also play, we would even now have a participants number of 8. But as we then would have no spots left left for spontaneous participations of new players like the last time, and as we also would have no spots which we (theoretically if we would want this) could fill with AIs to see how they diplomatically interact with each other and with us human players, the question is, when we would start talking about map suggestions for the game, whether we would need a map which is made (or which could be modified by us) for more than 8 player spots. If yes, the at the moment available maps made for more than 8 players would be the following of we could choose:

https://www.widelands.org/maps/?name__icontains=&nr_players_min=9&nr_players_max=16&author__iexact=&uploader=&w_min=&w_max=&h_min=&h_max=&o=-pub_date

(as it was outlined by some, if we would again make the starting positions chooseable by each player of his own, we would not have to use a balanced/symmetrical map)

What do you think?

(as said, we also maybe could modify a map with fewer player spots to enhance it to have spots for more players (10 or 16 or so maybe) )

Yes, excellent Idea !!! :- ) Saturday would fit 17:00, if we are up to 8 Player or add AI we can use https://www.widelands.org/maps/the-x/

(as it was outlined by some, if we would again make the starting positions chooseable by each player of his own, we would not have to use a balanced/symmetrical map)

What do you think?

--> We can use given start positions which works very nice face-smile.png or this map is even better concepted for free start positions

Everyone who uses the playtime scheduler seems to be available at Saturday the 26th starting at 19:00 CET. So let's fix that as the next date and time?

Oh, good, Saturday 19:30 also fits for me! face-smile.png

@the-x: Well, as I wrote "What do you think?", I did not only meant it concerning the brackets sentence before, but comcerning the whole text before, thus what all of you think about the question whether we would need a map for more than 8 player spots (or not)? And depending on that question, which specific (8 / 8+) map we would use for playing? (Thank you for your specific 8-player-spots map suggestion)

I'd like to suggest the following map, which is not overly aesthetical but fully equal, very interesting, and neither too small nor too big: https://www.widelands.org/maps/great-planes/

Other suggestions: The official maps Lesser Ring or Dolomites; official Riverlands (7 players); or https://www.widelands.org/maps/hexagony/ (6 players)

Two map criteria for good playable maps:

  • Intelligent set Ressources

Not everything on one dot, iron, gold especially intresting set where players can have very good Diplomaty over

  • Interesting Landscape
