So I've been distracted by working on another project for these past couple days (the first 80% takes the first 80% of the time, the last 20% takes the second 80% of the time...), and I feel bad about not making Widelands progress. I haven't been up for assembling what I have, so instead I did some work on the next building.

I'm not 100% thrilled (in particular I need to soften the edge between the bulk and the ridges), but I want to establish that I haven't fallen off the edge of the world. As always, comments are encouraged.

So I released the latest version of my other project (Ogre Battle randomizer, if you care); that means more time for Widelands!

Tell me if the no-trident guardhouse is fine for unoccupied guardhouses; if so, I'll assemble and upload it tomorrow.

So there were two issues with the barbarians barracks:

(1) Applying the bark texture to the ends is silly, seeing as they've been cut there. I tried putting a tree ring texture, but it looked too cartoonish. I finally went with a near-solid texture (which is actually common for tree rings, given how zoomed out we are)

(2) Having logs meet at the end is a great way of having the log cabin collapse right away. They always extend past the next side, and one side is half-a-log higher than the first side. So I dealt with those issues.

I may add cones to the ends of the logs (they didn't exactly have chainsaws!), and I'll likely make them the gray/semi-gray of old fences. I'll also stagger them a bit (see the logpile and the fence pile), and I'll probably remove the top log from the short walls.

Comments on this are highly recommended, both from the usual commenters and new commenters.

Would it be helpful for you if I took some real-life pictures of the ends of logs? I have a few ones of different species and ages here

You don't have to; there's plenty of pictures of log ends on google.

Unfortunately, the desired angle (directly towards them) is already covered. face-sad.png

I'm a dragon, I'm skilled at winning. :Þ

On a more serious note, I seek comments:

If this meets the staff's approval, I can re-finalize these.

I like it! Some additional ideas on my mind would be very pedantic and the minor improvements would not justify the amount of work to implement them.
