i DIE playing at speed 1x, isnt there an other way of measuring the playing time?

isnt there an internal unique gaming time? arent there ticks to count or something like that?

So that means that you can speed-up.

Also, take a look at the General Statistics window. The times reported there are also in game time units, so you can get a rough idea of how much game time you have played already.

I've spent most of my gaming time trying to better this challenge since it was announced, and at last have a time of just under 70 minutes (on bzr5603). Please don't rush to tell me of better times! I find that playing against the clock spoils much of the enjoyment of Widelands, in that there is no time to set up soldier training. It is, of course, essential to create an infrastructure to produce wood and axes, but after that, my efforts were concentrated on improving the chances of success in battle. This seems contrary to the aims of the developers, and I wonder if there is a loophole in the balance of play, in that soldier training is too expensive. Or, is it just that techniques are different when playing against AI?

There are certainly different styles of playing. Multiplayer can get a bit hectic, naturally, and that's hard to avoid. Probably the size of the map also has a big influence.

The important thing is that you can play as you like it. That's why there are now also new win conditions, e.g. win conditions that focus on economic achievements instead of conquest.
