Should not vanish after a time. They should be able to be toggled off and on.

-1 as the ressources could change over time the information provided by a geologist should vanish as currently implemented.

Another suggestion. Have a setting to allow players to choose how long the flags remain. It is too short. Flags vanish before the geo is even done working! It sucks.

That would be difficult as we would need to create a new Interface for that and it would break network gaming as this needs to be the same on all machines.

It is too short.

I would not object to increase it a bit. Perhaps 20% increase would be ok.

Cant't be true. even in a worst case scenario the geologist does work 15 times 10 secs plus 15 times 18 secs walking from spot to spot. which sums up to 420 secs / 7 min. The ressource indicators stay there for 10 min.

I'd agree to increasing the time they remain on the map.

+1

When I install a new version of the game, I always change the time for the recource flags to about 60 minutes (a lot of ...), about 20 to 30 minutes for water and the "some ..."-flags, and let it unchanged for "none".

When I send out the geologists on a new island for example it takes some time until I'm able to build mines and the food infrastructure (if not already set up in a different area), but I want to know where the recources are and which ones are there (I dont't want to build bakeries and smelters and so on and the street network for it when only granite is in the surrounding mountains, or only gold, when I already have more than enough of it).

(edit: some typos ...)

Well,
60 min would be much too long imho. I would let them last 15 min max. To just know where the ressources are you might either look into the messages, or place an unconnected constructionsite for the correct mine as well (and connect them as soon as you are ready.

maybe, but ihmo it's not too long, because ...

... this is only possible, if the mountain belongs to me. If I have to conquere the land around the mountain first (and have only one or two small part(s) of it for the "geologist-flag"), I'm not able to place an unconnected mine. Then the 15 minutes are not much better than the 10 minutes.

And searching through the messages often takes too long if I had 30 or more resource-messages half an hour ago from several islands when I want (and I'm able) to build the mines.

Maybe in most cases about 30 minutes would be enough time, but I still would change it to 45 oder 60 minutes -- at least while playing on huge maps.

I'd also like them to last longer. In a large game very often by the time I read the "resource found" messages the markers are already gone.
