I can add that the version downloaded from the repository does not communicate well with the PPA version 21... I wasn't able to test that until today but there was a message to say the protocol was different... sorry not to be more specific but this was a last minute test from work and I got sidetracked - the repository version was 20.

We don't provide networking compatibility between different Widelands versions. Even if the protocol version is identical, you can expect desyncs, so it will be unplayable anyway. Busy indexing nil values
