Hi all! New to the widelands.org website. Question: I uploaded a map a few hours ago (https://www.widelands.org/maps/micro-map-three-islands-with-bridges/), but then after uploading I have made a few small improvements to it. Is it possible to replace my upload by a new version?, and how do I do it? Top Quote |

Hi MRubingh and welcome to the forums It is currently not possible to upload new versions of a map with the same map name. Either give the new map a new mapname (given in the editors map options), and upload again, or let some admin delete the old map. To do the latter one, write a PM to one of this persons: Be aware that deleting a map means loosing all rates and comments. Fight simulator for Widelands: |

Hello The-X ! Thank you ! I've only tested these maps playing against the AI. Mainly while playing Barbarians myself. I've now also uploaded two other versions of the same idea. Overview of all versions so far: https://www.widelands.org/maps/micro-map-three-islands-with-bridges/ First map. Three islands. This showcases the basic idea. https://www.widelands.org/maps/eight-micro-islands-with-bridges/ Expansion of the same idea to a network of 8 islands. https://www.widelands.org/maps/desert-islands-race/ Similar idea, in a version where the islands are small patches of buildable locations in the desert. Note: I'm using a version of the game that is probably about 4-5 years old. (How do I get the game to tell me its version number?) The AI in my version of the game does not do a good job on maps of this kind, i.e. maps that are a network of multiple different paths that can be taken. Namely, the AI doesn't really expand into the other islands. Which makes the game trivially easy to win for the human player. I'm getting the impression that the AI in my version of the game doesn't really do planning of possible paths to take for expansion into different paths in the terrain. (Which is sort of the main thing I always look at myself, I'm sort of a geometric type of guy.) Has the AI been improved on this point in the past few years? Top Quote |

You can see the version number in the bottom-right corner in the main menu. The AI was improved a lot since each of the last releases, no comparison to 4-5 years ago Top Quote |

I got the version info from one of your maps. You are running Widelands Build 19 (released 11.11.2016). The current version is Build 20 (released 04.05.2019). What is your operating system? If it's Debian-based, you can get it from our PPA (see downloads section). Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |

Hello Nordfriese and GunChleoc ! Many thanks for your messages and infos ! Very interesting to hear that the AI has improved a lot in the past few years. I'm curious to try the new game version, with the new AI. Indeed, my game says "Version build-19 (Release)" in the bottom-right corner. Many thanks for creating the game and for running this site!
