I don't experience any such trouble.

Even when you set maximum length to 250? Okay, better don't try with such a high number...

Just checked this on Königen un Königinnen (max length 20) and it has no impact on performance whatsoever.

20 is not that high. In my case it was 99 or something like that. But 20 could be a better limit than 10.

I guess you're using somewhat older hardware, where the workarea display is a bit performance hungry?

Not really. The performance requirements grow at least quadratic in dependence of the maximum length.

but how about disabling the waterway length limit illustration along with all the other workarea-related performance killers with the 'W' hotkey?

Not sure. I usually press "W" in every game, so I'd have to press it over and over again if I would build waterways... Reducing the maximum length might do the trick.

Well 99 is really a bit… enourmous face-wink.png But a) that's not really what ferries are intended for and b) why on earth would you want to build a 99 tiles long waterway??

Perhaps restricting the WW max length spinbox in the editor to force map designers not to go above a reasonable limit value like perhaps 30 should do the trick?

Exactly that's why we need an upper limit.

That's what I suggested. But even 30 might be too high, what about 20 instead?
