Some thoughts about this:

  • it's okay that quick attacking works fine on maps with small distances, because this increases the variety of the game.

how exactly "there is always convenience for one player to attack" translates to more variety? wouldn't there be more variety if longer games were encouraged?

could not see that so far. I would have voted to get more testing feedback from people involved in the discussion.
I will try to test this as well now.

The change is small and easily reverted if it turns out to be a bad idea. This way, we will get more testing on it face-smile.png

ETA: I got confused, it was approved by a reviewer, but not merged yet.

There isn't always such a convenience. For example if the distance to the enemy is very big, you want to develop, not attack. If you attack instead of developing, your enemy can develop better and defend the attack because of the advantage. And even on small maps you can build a defence of Castles inside your headquarter area, then it's convenient for the enemy to attack not too soon (because of being outnumbered).

wouldn't there be more variety if longer games were encouraged?

No

Since this discussion has stalled, I have merged the branch to give it some testing exposure. The change is small and easy to undo.

There's a bug that can cause huge heals. The highest I logged was 2640 in a single tick face-smile.png (normally it should be up to around 200)
