I would not vote for anything that had a mixture of shadow directions.

Abstain then, because any screenshot will have that issue. We'll be happy to accept fixes for those if you want to learn Blender.

And yes, anybody can add an opinion on this thread. I could also set up a poll if people prefer that.

But isn't "Complete World" remarkable as some complete World? And that's actually not "Four Tribes, Four Terrains II", but the "Four Tribes, Four Terrains". Maybe it's a little harsh to degrade that to some "zoom in".

When you look at the screenshot, the full titles are

  • Zoom In: Four tribes on four terrains
  • Zoom Out: Four tribes on four islands

Is that OK for you?

I would vote for

  1. Zoom out: four tribes on four islands, due to it showing most of the features (zoom), tribes, terrains and items(artefacts) wideland has.
  2. Alternatively for four tribes 2 - sefaring of the four tribes although it looks a little nicer it has less content.

By the way, I should mention that most of my screenshots are only supposed to be just on the "gallery". At the other hand, I wouldn't mind if anyone of it would be selected for the website. But the "zoom in" variant of "four tribes on four terrains" is supposed to take part in the competition.

And I had the ideas for my screenshots by myself: If you download the savegames and try to open the ones of my first "four tribes on four terrains", you can see that this is from October 24th. Nordfriese had a similar idea, but his upload is from November.

It doesn't matter, because our chieftain said that the screenshots would be uploaded there.

So, in my opinion, the rename is expedient.

But I don't want that these two screenshots are renamed like that.

Not exactly. What about if I send two more screenshots which show minimum and maximum of the zoom function?

I'd like that. As we discussed by PM, Widelands does not produce sufficient graphics quality when zoomed in, so we'd have to have a neutral zoom rather than zooming in. Maybe just 1 screenshot to showcase zooming out?

I'd like us to make a decision until next Wednesday, so that I'll have time to add it to the appdata file before we package the release candidate.

Current contenders are:

Frisians 1

Screenshot

Frisians 2

Screenshot

The Empire

Screenshot

Four Tribes

Screenshot

Four Tribes 2

Screenshot

Four Tribes, Four Terrains II

My favorites for the homepage are Four Tribes 2 and Four Tribes, Four Terrains II - I think the first one of these would probably serve us better, because it looks more dynamic.

Why more dynamic?

I´m against using a screenshot that shows only one tribe. Especially FRI1 and FRI2 – I made those in order to show the new tribe&scenarios.

In Four Tribes 2, everything is mingled together, so it looks too noisy IMHO. I like the calm, quiet cleanness of Four Tribes, Four Terrains II better. I vote Four Tribes, Four Terrains II.

In my opinion 'Four Tribes, Four Terrains' is too clean, whereas 'FourTribes 2' looks more natural. So i'd vote for 'Four Tribes 2'.
