I never claimed to be much of a hair-stylist. face-grin.png

@raistware: You're right about the contrast (or lack thereof) of the female's headband thingie. I was attempting a gold tiara of sorts. It worked better against black hair. face-smile.png

Here are some shots of the female. Images are all from screenshots. (I realize the hotspot is off.) face-wink.png

Personally, to my eyes there is enough contrast between the colors of the skin and hair. Lightening the hair much further would yield white I would think.

I admit the shading for the hair suggests cloth and the headband does result in a strong resemblance to Arab headgear. A different styling may mitigate that. Plus I think there is a surprisingly good definition from most angles between the gold headband and this shade of blond.

What do you all think?

I'd say: Very good work, chuckw! face-wink.png

No, really, they look excellent. Looking at the models, I think that the green eyes work surprisingly well with the blond hair (which is however a detail of little importance in the game itself). I also like the females to be more slim. Looks even better.

And they look good in-game as well. Even the head band is visible and you can recognize them on all grounds you made shots of. I certainly hope that there will be a use for these female models.

(*Keeps fingers crossed*)

Edit: Mixed something up...

For me looks very arabic, I prefer hair stile like first post (only style, not color). With yours, chuck, hair seems a cloth instead of hair. But headband jewlery shows very good, really.

I also think the female hair looks a lot like cloth. How about a pony tail (with knots in it or so?). I'd also like the green of the skin a little more pronounced, but I leave the style decision to you.

And I also agree: very good work.

Thanks for the comments. Rest assured that I have them foremost in mind and am not done with the hair. face-wink.png

Here is another set of screenshots focusing on the female model. For this model, I used a different technique (particle generation) to make the hair. It takes longer to render and a lot of the detail is lost, but the result doesn't look like cloth. face-smile.png

This model does not sport any head jewelry, not even a ponytail band, but it does have playercolor.

1)hair020 2)hair022 3)hair023 4)hair025 5)hair030 6)hair035

I'll take another try with the original technique and play with the hair styling and textures a bit more.

I welcome all comments.
