I think it is a little hard to recognise. And the root seems unclear to me.

Thanks for your comments. I was aiming at replicating the style of the wares pics. I think a lighter background (rather than the current transparent one) would help with definition. I'll render one and put it up.

Thanks. There isn't a lot of room to work with in 24 x 24, maybe a stylized "stick man"?

I'm currently trying to organize the various 2D images in my local workspace by putting them all in a common directory and renaming them to keep them unique as I try to get my head around all of this. I feel a need to organize them differently into a library that I can work with more efficiently. I realize the current directory structure is needed for the game, but I find it awkward to develop in.

If you have any tips or tools (like, file managers, blender python scripts, special maps or saved games, etc.), I'd appreciate any advice. While I'm getting familiar with Blender and can work to "tweak" existing models, it is still very new to me and I think I might be wise (and more productive) at this point to start with the 2D stuff for now.

Also, is there any documentation on the "conf" files, they're use, contents, etc.? I understand the concept of "hotspots" for example, but most of my understanding thus far has been by guesswork and deduction.

I've put some experimental menu pics in the stock resources folder.

Comments?

They come along nicely! I especially like the farmer and the blacksmith with the anvil. I am not so fond of the breeder icons, I didn't recognize them when I looked at them. The geologist looks a bit like a tennis racket.

First drafts are typically rough. Mine are like sandpaper. face-smile.png

Too many arms! When I finally loaded a set into a working game I saw a lot of places for improvement. One image at a time isn't so bad, but seeing them all at once was an eye-opener. Some of these occupations (like the breeders) are a bit of a challenge to depict.

The refining continues. I'm learning what works and what doesn't. As long as I can learn from my failures, I'll be happy.
