Hi all!

I just downloaded the little gem and started it but everything is far to small for me to play, could anyone please give me an advice on how to make this run?

My resolution is 2560 x 1440 but as I said, this makes everythung ultra tiny and as I understand it cant be zoomed. Switching to any other resolution with "Full Screen" Box ticked does nothing, unticking the "Full Screen" box and changing the resolution just makes the game window smaller and smaller, the gameworld itself stays very tiny.

Thank you for anyone who has some advice on this issue?

Herm

I assume you downloaded Widelands release 19 and startet on Windows or OSX with a High Resoulution/Retina Screen? For WInwos there are (I think) compatibility switches that may help you. There is something simiar in for OSX, but I cannot tell you the exact whereabout.

So please provide us with a exact verions of you OS and Hardware (Montior, PC) you use.

Greetings

Hi Hasi,

yes, I run on a Windows 7 64 bit system with an Eizo CX271 Monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution.

I downloaded the standard version 19 windows setup file from the "download" site.

zooming is not available in B19? (I am using actual trunk, so I cannot easily check the B19)

Zooming is only available in current trunk (development version).

Hemundure * if you are a developer you can compile such a version for yourself * maybe you just want to use a prebuild develoer version from:

https://wl.widelands.org/wiki/TestingBranches/

You shoud be able to zoom with ctrl-+, ctrl-- and rest the zoom with ctrl-0, may be possible with mouse and tracpad as well.

BUT, these developer versions are incompatible with R19 face-sad.png Not network play, saved games will not load with r19. And developer versions have bugs and may crash some time.

So please investigate open the options for the app: * right click on the app and open some context dialog (I have no windos system at hand right now) * check for some compatibility options, e.g. Windows XP or such.

The OS will then use different aproaches to negotiate the reolution that may perform better.

You may also try to user a lower resolution, so you sacrifice some scrren space but perhaps its playable then.

WIndows offer some Screen maginifer, but I think this is the last resort you may try.

Good luck.

Also, the zoom function will only zoom the map, so texts and buttons will still be tiny.

How about playing full screen with a smaller resolution? Doesn’t that work?

No, that won't change anything. It might help with the game setup screens, but not within the game - the map and UI is expanded rather than scaled in-game.
