Could someone please tell me at which folder I have to put downloaded maps in order to make it working? I don't see anything.

And I don't get it why you make things so complicated just to prevent draws, which are not even probable at all... face-wink.png

The preferred folder to store downloaded maps on Windows is:

C:\Users\<username>\.widelands\My_Maps\

You may have to create the folder 'My_Maps'.

The folder shown in auktionadmin's screen shot is the folder of shipped maps and shoudn't be used to store downloaded maps to have them not mixed up, imho face-smile.png

Edit: Fixed wrong slashes in path

I've downloaded several maps and saved them to C:\bin\Widelands\data\maps

I can start the game with this downloaded map for example Egyptian Mandala:

I didn't say that it is wrong, or do not work.

I just stated the 'preferred' folder to have a better distinction between shipped maps and downloaded maps. If you look into your folder you won't be able to see which map is 'official' (shipped with the game) or which one is downloaded right away. If you create or change a map in the editor and save it, it will be automatically saved in C:\Users\<username>\.widelands\My_Maps\, because that is the default folder for 'not shipped' maps.

On linux it is a hidden folder called:

/home/<username>/.widelands/maps/My_Maps/

You may have to enable the view of hidden files in you file browser.

Oh, and my path for windows misses the \maps\ folder so the path is correct:

C:\Users\<username>\.widelands\maps\My_Maps

The FAQ proposes to put them in ~/.widelands/maps (where ~ is your home directory, /home/worldsavior or something). Works for me..

I'm not trying to prevent draws. It's just that it would have become too easy to draw and too difficult to do anything else. There were 4 artifacts, each player had 2 close and 2 far, so each player would easily get the two close and it would become draw immediately.

That said, widelands is not a game prone to draws. There aren't game mechanics that lead to draw as the most likely result. I'm mostly readapting rules for chess games in this tournament, and in chess draws are frequent (the higher the level, the most likely the draw; the world chess championship match is currently being played, and so far there were 6 games all draw) because there are plenty of ways to reach endgames where nothing can be done beyond a stalemate. Widelands is not like that, and the only real way to reach a draw is by agreement. Still, I would like to see a well played match where both sides have equal power and none can gain an advantage to try to attack.
