I not sure if I'm missing something or what. I read the last post on "trouble running Widelands on a mac", but that didn't help. I've downloaded it from 3 different sources. Same issue every time. It unzips fine and pops up with an icon to click on. When you click it it acts like it's going to open something, but nothing happens. Is there something else I need to do to install it? Thanks, it looks like a really fun game.

I'm running osx tiger 10.4.11

I have the same problem. I installed build 14, it started to unzip and it put the Widelands icon on my desktop. Clicking on it made the icon look as if it's going to open, but nothing else happened.

Console log says:

Link (dyld) error:

Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libexpat.1.dylib Referenced from: /Users/Judith/Desktop/Widelands.app/Contents/MacOS/../Resources/libggzcore.9.dylib Reason: image not found

May Macbook plays good with widelands. But I am using SnowLeopard.... Hm, may be You test an older buld if it works? May be build 13 or 12?

Another test you can do is: just install the "battle of wesnoth" game and see if this works. Then try Widelands again. Because Wesnoth and Widelands are using the same librarys as I know.

Good luck!

Hi Judith,

seems the library libexpat is missing on your system. Well I am no Mac user, so no idea how to do this, but best try to download the library somewhere and install it on your system, so Widelands can find it.

Cheers Peter

Found this in your News:

"The immediate crash happens on Leopard (10.5) as well. Apparently the binary expects libexpat.0.dylib in /usr/X11R6/lib, which OS X doesn't provide (at least not by default). However, there is a libexpat.1.dylib in /usr/lib. Making a link (ln -s /usr/lib/ibexpat.1.dylib /usr/X11R6/lib/libexpat.0.dylib) fixes the immediate crash for me. .............................. Works for me too: - though people cut n pasting your version into the terminal won't get a working version (minor typo). Try sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libexpat.1.dylib /usr/X11R6/lib/libexpat.0.dylib and then type in your password. Works on my x86 OSX 10.6"

But for me it didn't work...Perhaps because I don't exactly know what to do. I just copied: sudo ln -s /usr/lib/ibexpat.1.dylib /usr/X11R6/lib/libexpat.0.dylib into my Terminal and it said: File exists

Installing Battle of Westnoth also didn't help. This game works perfectly on my mac.

I'll go back to build 13. This version still works.
